Although the Napa Valley experienced intense heat spikes in July 2006, the harvest weather was quite cool, resulting in long hang-time for the grapes and balanced chemistry in the must. Like many 2006 Napa Valley wines, our Zeitgeist Cabernet has a classic structure and should prove to be a wine worthy of cellar aging. The 2006 Zeitgeist is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, and represents a combination of fruit from vineyards in St. Helena and Coombsville. It was nurtured in French oak barrels for 19 months and bottled May 30th 2008. This wine will be a joy to drink this season and into the future. 190 cases produced.
Tasting Notes: The 2006 Zeitgeist Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits a diverse group of scents; brown sugar and baklava are intermixed with notes of sweet fruits, notably raspberry and plum. A tinge of bergamot lends life to the nose. The wine is suave as it enters your mouth and displays a lushness that is a hallmark of Napa Valley Cabernet. The 2006 is cut from the same cloth as its slighter older brother (the 2005), but is more mineral in its nature and precise in its focus. Plush tannins culminate in a beautiful and noticeably lasting finish.
